Moving Forward Meets Itty Bitty Banners

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made for the sketch challege last week on the SUDSOL site.  If you are a Demonstrator for Stampin' Up!, scroll down to the button on the right and click to learn more about SUDSOL.

The card body is Island Indigo card stock.  This is layered with a piece of Whisper White card stock that has been run through the Big Shot using the Cloudy Days Embossing Folder.  

Next is a Real Red card stock layer and then an Island Indigo card stock layer that have also been run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

The focal image is from the stamp set, Moving Forward.*  It is stamped on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and punched using the 2-1/2" Circle Punch.  I added Silver Mini Brads to the centers of the wheels by using the Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin' Pierce Mat.

The greeting is from the stamp set, Itty Bitty Banners.  It is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Island Indigo ink.  It is die cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits.  I trimmed close to the stamped image and layered it on a scrap piece of Real Red card stock that has also been die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  Silver Mini Brads accent this piece as well. 

The circle is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The greeting is attached using Glue Dots.  All other layers are attached using SNAIL Adhesive.

I used Real Red and Island Indigo Stampin' Write Markers to add alternating color dots around the punched circle.  This, of course, is optional.

Hearts a Flutter Birthday

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made for some birthdays this month, as well as a Case Challenge over on SUDSOL.  If you are a Stampin' Up! The base of the card is Wisteria Wonder card stock.  A panel in the same color is embossed using the Big Shot and the Honeycomb Embossing Folder*.  I added narrow borders of Whisper White to the sides of the embossed panel and attached to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.

Hearts A Flutter stamp set* is great set by itself, but with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits*, it's perfect!  I stamped three of the different shapes on Whisper White card stock and one on Pretty In Pink card stock.  I used Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette and Pretty In Pink Classic Ink and die cut all the images with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits*.  Click on the photo for a closer view.

I punched holes in the three banners using the 1/16" Handheld Punch and threaded Whisper White Baker's Twine through, knotting the ends.  I attached these to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. TIP:  Use a Dental Floss Threader to get that Baker's Twine through those little holes.

The greeting is from the stamp set, Apothecary Art, and is stamped with Elegant Eggplant Classic Ink.  I added a Stampin' Dimensional in the center.  The two hearts overlap the ends and are also added with Dimensionals.  A little bow in Baker's Twine accents the left and a Jewels Basic Rhinestone accents the right.

Moving Forward Meets Cloudy Day

Hi Stamping Friends,

Wow!  Where did last week go?  For me it was just a whirlwind of busy activities...lol. 

Here's a simple card I made for this week's sketch challenge over on SUDSOL.  It uses the stamp set, Moving Forward.  Every year Stampin' Up! has a specific stamp set that helps support the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  When you purchase this stamp set, Stampin' Up! will donate $3 to RMHC.  Together, over $1,000,000 has been donated to this worthy charity that helps support families with children who have serious illnesses.

The card base is Whisper White card stock.  Next is a layer of Island Indigo card stock.  This is topped with a piece of Whisper White card stock that has been run through the Big Shot using the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder from the Spring Catalog. 

Waves are made using Pool Party card stock that has been die cut using the Large Scallop Edgelit.   A small strip of Silver Glimmer Paper has also been die cut the same to add a little sparkle.  I sponged the edges with Pool Party classic ink.  Happy Birthday is from the From My Heart stamp set and is stamped in Island Indigo classic ink.

The cute little sail boat is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White in Island Indigo ink.  I cut it out with my Paper Snips (love these) and added some accents with the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker.  It is layered (with Stampin' Dimensionals) on a Whisper White circle that was punched using the 2-1/2" Circle Punch and also embossed with the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder.  There is a very light sponging of Pool Party around this.  This is attached to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals as well.

Joyous Celebrations Meets Snow Festival DSP

Hi Stamping Friends,

It feels so good to get back to stamping after a family visit up North.  We had much to be thankful for as our son's family welcomed their third son on November 14th.  Now they have three little boys and they are a delight!

I made this card for a Case Challenge over on SUDSOL.  We are given a card pictured in Stampin' Success, our Demonstrator magazine, to case (copy and share everything).  Here is my version.

I started with a base of Whisper White card stock.  I ran it through the Big Shot using the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.

On a strip of Whisper White card stock, I used "merry" from Tiny Tags stamp set, coloring with the Real Red Stampin' Write Marker and stamping several times.  Use a Stamp-a-ma-jig if you want it perfectly straight.

I used another piece of Whisper White card stock to stamp the dotted oval from the Joyous Celebrations stamp set In Real Red Classic Ink.  From the same set, I stamped the greeting in Garden Green in the oval, the bow in Real Red and greenery in Garden Green on a scrap of Whisper White.  I trimmed out the bow and greenery with my Paper Snips (love these!).  I used a Glue Dot to attach the bow to the greens and a Stampin' Dimensional to attach to the oval.  I added a Rhinestone to the bow and beside the greeting.  I added Stampin' Dimensionals to the back of the oval and set aside.

I rounded the top two corners of the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper using the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch.  Attach the "merry" strip to the bottom edge of the Designer Paper.  Punch a strip of (gorgeous) Silver Glimmer Paper using the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  Adhere below the merry strip using SNAIL Adhesive.  Add a piece of 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, wrap to back and adhere using SNAIL Adhesive.  Tie a small bow and attach using a Glue Dot.  Add Dimensionals to the back and adhere to the card front.  Add the oval element.  Accent with Dazzling Details as desired. 

The Silver Glimmer Paper is gorgeous and adds so much sparkle.  A photo below shows gray and does not do it justice.  It is white/clear, like a sheet of diamonds in real life!  I love it!

Serene Silhouettes Meets Loving Thoughts

Here's a card I made for a 50th wedding anniversary using a SUDSOL Sketch Challenge.

The card base is Whisper White card stock.  The first layer is also Whisper White and has been embossed using the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

The focal image is from the stamp set, Serene Silhouettes.  I stamped on Whisper White using Versamark and heat embossed using a Heat Tool and Gold Embossing Powder.  It's layered on a piece of Brushed Gold card stock.

The greeting is from the stamp set, Loving Thoughts.  It, too, is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using Gold Embossing Powder and layered on Brushed Gold.  It's attached to the card front using SNAIL and Glue Dots.

The focal image is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I added a small bow made from 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon and attached with a Glue Dot.

Jewels Basic Pearls are attached below the greeting and in the center of the blossoms.

Curly Cute Meets Festival of Prints

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made for a CASE (copy and share everything) Challenge over on SUDSOL.  If you are a Stampin' Up! The card base is Crumb Cake card stock.  I ran the front through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder (love this folder).

The Holiday Catalog has a cute stack of designer papers called Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack on Pg. 20.  There are 48 sheets, 4-1/2" x 6-1/2", 4 each of 12 double-sided designs - something for everyone and not all holiday specific.

I cut my strip 1-1/2" x 5" and used my Paper Snips to create the dove-tailed end.  This is attached to the card front using a generous amount of SNAIL Adhesive.  I like to use additional adhesive when attaching a piece to a heavily embossed layer.

"Thinking of You" is from the stamp set, Curly Cute.  It's stamped on Very Vanilla card stock using Raspberry Ripple classic ink.  A strip of Raspberry Ripple card stock was punched using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to create a decorative edge for the greeting panel.  This is attached using SNAIL Adhesive.

A single knot made with the 3/8" Raspberry Ripple Stitched Satin Ribbon is attached using a Glue Dot.

Finally, I've added a string of Jewels Basic Pearls.

This was so fast and easy, I've also made some 3" x 3" versions of this card using the same supplies with the exception of the greeting.  That comes from the stamp set, Fabulous Phrases.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the words evenly.

Howlstooth & Scaringbone Birthday

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made in response to a sketch challenge over on SUDSOL.  Included in the Holiday Catalog is an fantastic collection of designer series paper called Howlstooth & Scaringboone Designer Series Paper.  Isn't that a great name?  The coordinating colors for this collection are Basic Black, Basic Gray, More Mustard, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla; and, as you can see, it's not just for Halloween.

I chose Basic Gray as the card base.  Next layer up, I wanted a narrow margin of Very Vanilla card stock to lighten things up a bit.  I added a layer of More Mustard card stock to that.  Finally, I ran another piece of Basic Gray through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  These layers are all adhered together using SNAIL Adhesive.  

I added a strip of the Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper.  I used a strip of Very Vanilla card stock and stamped 'happy birthday' from the stamp set, A Word For You.  I used a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to color just the happy birthday portion.  I snipped the end with my Paper Snips and used SNAIL to adhere the end that will be hidden by the flower.

To make the flower, I punched five 1-3/4" Scallop Circle punches.  I used one of the More Mustard patterns from the Regals Designer Series Paper Stacks.   Spritz with water and crumple them up.  Very carefully open them back up and let dry.  When dry, stack them, pierce or punch a hole in the center and add a brad (I added a gorgeous Antique Brad).  Squeeze the paper up around the brad and fuss with it a bit until you like the look.  I used several Glue Dots to attach it to the card over the end of the banner.

Googly Ghouls Meets Colour Q Challenge #151

Hi Stampers,

Here's a card I made for this week's Colour Q Challenge #151 and this weeks sketch from Create with Connie and Mary - CCMC215.

The challenge colors are Basic Black, Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie and Whisper White.  The card base is Basic Black.  This is layered with a piece of Tempting Turquoise.  I used the Spider Web Embossing Folder and the Big Shot to add texture.

The next layer up is Pumpkin Pie card stock.  This was run through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.

I'm using a new stamp set called Googly Ghouls from Stampin' Up!'s Holiday catalog.  All the images were stamped using Basic Black Classic Ink.  I trimmed out the Bat image and the Mummy image using Paper Snips.  I cut a shadow of the Mummy using Basic Gray card stock.  The Bat and Mummy are popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I added Googlies to the Mummy and the Spider.

Chock Full of Cheer Meets Be Of Good Cheer Again

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's another Christmas card based on a sketch challenge over on Sudsol.  I'm just loving the Chock Full of Cheer stamp set and it's coordinating Designer Series Paper, Be Of Good Cheer.  It's a fast and easy card...simple yet elegant and easy to reproduce.  You can see two other cards using this stamp set here and here.

The card base is Very Vanilla card stock.  The next layer is Cherry Cobbler card stock.  A piece of Very Vanilla card stock has been run through the Big Shot using the Petals-A-Plenty Embossing Folder.  This is attached to the Cherry Cobbler using a generous amount of SNAIL.

A strip of Be of Good Cheer Designer Series Paper is layered on Cherry Cobbler card stock and attached using a generous amount of SNAIL.

The ornament stamp from Chock Full of Cheer is stamped twice on Very Vanilla  - once using Cherry Cobbler classic ink and once using Gumball Green classic ink.  I used the 1-3/4" Circle Punch for the ornament.  I used the 1" Circle Punch to punch out the center of the ornament.  I did trim a little closer to the line on the Gumball Green center, but you could use Cherry Cobbler and you wouldn't have to trim.  It would blend right in.  These two pieces use Stampin' Dimensionals to layer and attach to the card front.  Clear Block "D" works for all the stamps I used.

I made a small bow using the Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon and attached using a Mini Glue Dot.  Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon would also work well.  I later added a Jewels Basic Pearl to the center.

You could use any combination of colors for this card, as well as any Embossing Folder and it would be beautiful.  I did stamp the inside with a sentiment from the new More Merry Messages, before attaching the layers to the card front...just in case :o).

The Open Sea Meets Fan Fair DSP

Hi Stamping Friends,

I needed several masculine cards this month, so decided to case this card from Lydia's blog - Understand Blue.  Stamping on designer series paper is not something I ever think to do, but when I saw Lydia's card, I just loved the look.  So here is my version of that card, a little dressed down.

The card base is Crumb Cake card stock.  The next layer up is Island Indigo card stock (love, love, love this shade of blue) that has been run through the Big Shot using the new Argyle Embossing Folder.  It's attached to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.

The focal image uses one of the patterns from the Fan Fair Designer Series Paper.  I fussy cut a spot I liked and stamped the ship from The Open Sea using Jet Black Stazon Ink.  I colored the sails using our White Signo Gel Pen.  This is layered on another piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Stampin' Dimensionals are added to the back and it's attached to the card front.

The "happy birthday" greeting is from the stamp set, Itty Bitty Banners.  I used Island Indigo classic ink and another of the patterns of Fan Fair Designer Series Paper.  Then, I used one of the Bitty Banners Framelits and the Big Shot to die cut the greeting.  It's attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.  Remember...when using the Edgelits or Framelits, you need to use Tab 2 on your Multipurpose Platform!

By the way, I used the clear mount stamps and used Clear Block "D" for the ship and Clear Block "G" for the greeting.  If you would like a template showing the sizes of the clear blocks, scroll down and look in the right side bar.  You will find a button that says click here for clear block template.  Print out on vellum or thin paper.  You can place it over the pictures of the stamps in the catalog to determine which size works best for you.
