Tea for Two Vintage Mother's Day

Hi Stamping Friends,

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful ladies out there.  We are all mothers on mothers' day...to children, friends, family members, pets, plants - whatever you may nurture in your life...so celebrate the day!

Here's a card I sent to my mother-in-law.  The base is So Saffron card stock.  The right corners are punched using the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch. 

Stampin' Up! has these wonderful doiles in their Spring Catalog called Tea Lace Paper Doilies.  They're not thick and are easy to manipulate.  I crumpled one and then flattened  I did make a little vertical pleat to make it a little smaller.  It's attached to the card front with a bit of SNAIL Adhesive.  The pleat is covered with a piece of Tea For Two Designer Series Paper, popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  I wrapped Island Indigo Baker's Twine around the card front three times and tied a bow. 

Another great product in the Spring Catalog is the 5/8" Vanilla Flower Trim.  I used two that I had sponged with So Saffron Ink and a Sponge Dauber.  These are attached using Glue Dots. 

I snipped the "legs" off a Designer Builder Brad (also in the Spring Catalog).  I punched a small circle using one of the Itty Bitty Shapes Punches Pack and used a Glue Dot to attach to the center of the brad.  The brads come with little adhesive "bubbles" to cover the circle of DSP.  It's attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The greeting is from the set, Teeny Tiny Wishes, and is stamped on Vellum Card Stock in Island Indigo Ink.  I snipped the end and added a half dimensional to the other end.  I slipped this end under the brad to hide the dimensional.  Vellum is not very forgiving with regard to adhesives showing through, so try to hide them whenever possible.

Teeny Tiny Wishes has almost every greeting you would ever need and they are tiny.  My greeting measures 1/8" x 1-1/2".  A lot of times teeny, tiny is all you need.  Just look at all these sayings.

Sunshine & Sprinkles Meets Mojo Monday 290

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a CAS (clean and simple) card I made using this week's Mojo Monday 290 Sketch.

The card base is Whisper White card stock. 

The focal image is from the Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper shown in  the Spring Catalog -  top button in right side bar to view!  I used the 1" Square Punch and punched four of the little whales.  They are layered on a strip of Marina Mist card stock using SNAIL Adhesive. 

A Whisper White card stock layer has the upper half embossed using the Big Shot and Cloudy Day Embossing Folder.

Happy Birthday is from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and is stamped in Marina Mist Ink.  A piece of 1/4" Daffodil Delight Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is attached below the embossing using Glue Dots along the card stock edge to hold in place and SNAIL Adhesive secures to the back side.  Another piece of ribbon is slipped under center front and tied in a single knot.

The focal image is attached to the layer using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The layer is attached to the card front using Dimensionals as well.   Be sure you stamp your sentiment inside before attaching the layer...just in case you need to do it again.  I used a sentiment from the Bring On The Cake stamps set (not shown).

Itty Bitty Banners stamp set coordinates with the Bitty Banners Framelits (#129267) to die cut the images, if desired.  Check out the other images in the stamp set.

Best of Flowers Meets PPA157

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made for two challenges.  One was the SUDSOL challenge to use Vintage Trinkets and the other is the Paper Pals Arts 157 Sketch Challenge.

The card base is Crumb Cake card stock.  I used the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch on all four corners.

The next layer up is Whisper White card stock that has been run through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  It's sponged with Crumb Cake ink and Vintage Trinket Brads are added in each corner.  Add a generous amount of Stampin' Dimensionals to the back.

A strip of Pool Party card stock, embossed using the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder is attached using SNAIL Adhesive.  A piece of Calypso Coral 1/2" Ruffled Ribbon is adhered.  I slipped another piece under and tied a single knot.

A greeting from Tiny Tags stamp set is stamped in Crumb Cake ink and punched using the Jewelry Tag punch.  I also punched a Pool Party and Crumb Cake tag.  Holes are punched in the tags and threaded through with Linen Thread.  It's attached to the ribbon knot using a tiny safety pin from the Vintage Trinkets. 

The focal image is from Stampin' Up!'s Best of Flowers stamp set is stamped in Black Stazon on Whisper White card stock.  It's colored using a Blender Pen and Calypso Coral and Always Artichoke inks.

After coloring, I placed an Oval Framelit around the image as a mask and sponged lightly with Pool Party ink.  I die cut the image and then embossed using the Oval Framelits.   Connie Collins has a video on how to do embossing with Framelits.  It can be found here.  I very lightly sponged around the edge with Crumb Cake ink.

I used a Labels Framelit to die cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that is embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I cut it in half lengthwise in order to bring it in closer to the size of the oval.  It is attached to theimage using SNAIL and the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Dinoroar Birthday

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made for this week's sketch challenge over on SUDSOL.  It uses Stampin' Up!'s really cute stamp set called Dinoroar.

The card base is Whisper White card stock.  The next layer is also Whisper White and has been run through the Big Shot using (my favorite) the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  A strip from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack in Tempting Turquoise is layered on this.

I stamped the two dinosaurs in Jet Black Stazon on Shimmery White card stock.  I used the Aqua Painter to water color, Tempting Turquoise for one and a combination of Lucky Limeade and Gumball Green for the other.  I was aiming for the general colors used on the PBS Show, Dinosaur Train.   I trimmed these out using Paper Snips.

On Whisper White card stock I stamped the greeting from the Dinoroar stamp set in Basic Black ink.  The grass (also from the same set) is stamped in Garden Green.  I've layered this on Tempting Turquoise card stock.  The green dinosaur is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals and the turquoise is attached using Glue Dots.  This element is attached to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The other layers are attached using SNAIL Adhesive.

Moving Forward Meets Itty Bitty Banners

Here's a card I made for the sketch challege last week on the SUDSOL site.  If you are a Demonstrator for Stampin' Up!, scroll down to the button on the right and click to learn more about SUDSOL.

The card body is Island Indigo card stock.  This is layered with a piece of Whisper White card stock that has been run through the Big Shot using the Cloudy Days Embossing Folder.  

Next is a Real Red card stock layer and then an Island Indigo card stock layer that have also been run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

The focal image is from the stamp set, Moving Forward.*  It is stamped on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and punched using the 2-1/2" Circle Punch.  I added Silver Mini Brads to the centers of the wheels by using the Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin' Pierce Mat.

The greeting is from the stamp set, Itty Bitty Banners.  It is stamped on a scrap of Whisper White card stock in Island Indigo ink.  It is die cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits.  I trimmed close to the stamped image and layered it on a scrap piece of Real Red card stock that has also been die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  Silver Mini Brads accent this piece as well. 

The circle is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The greeting is attached using Glue Dots.  All other layers are attached using SNAIL Adhesive.

I used Real Red and Island Indigo Stampin' Write Markers to add alternating color dots around the punched circle.  This, of course, is optional.

Swallowtail Meets Loving Thoughts

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card I made for a challenge over on SUDSOL.  We were to use watercoloring with reinkers.  Every since my Swallowtail stamp arrived, I've wanted to emboss in Silver Embossing Powder.  We are making a card similar to this in my classes this month, but sponging rather than watercoloring.

I am using Shimmery White card stock on this card. Let's start with the focal image.  First, stamp your greeting.  This is from the stamp set, Loving Thoughts, and is stamped in Basic Gray. 

After swiping the card stock with the Embossing Buddy, I stamped the Swallowtail stamp on Shimmery white card stock in Versamark.  I covered the stamped image with Silver Embossing Powder, tapped the edge to remove any excess powder and used the Heat Tool to melt the powder.  If you've never embossed with any metallic embossing powders, it's like a little mini firework...lol.  One minute it's dull and dark and the next it just bursts into a bright and shiny image!

I started by adding a drop of reinker to the lid of these ink pads:  Pool Party, Baja Breeze and Marina Mist.  Using an Aqua Painter, I picked up Pool Party ink and went over the entire image.  Be careful to not let too much water accumulate on the paper. If you already have the ink pad, and not the reinker, simple squeeze the lid into the pad before opening to make a palette for your ink color.

Next, I added some Baja Breeze ink.  I'm going for a graduated blue color here.  It's a little hard to see, but I used some Perfect Plum ink as a very small accent.  Last, I used the Marina Mist ink.  Lightly wipe the image with tissue to remove any excess ink .

This layered on another piece of Shimmery White card stock that has been run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  The layers are attached to each other and the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.

You could make this in so many different ways - you're only limited by your imagination.  Try Gold Embossing Powder and earth tone colors on Very Vanilla - gorgeous!  How about just gold (or silver) on whisper white!  It would make a gorgeous anniversary card.  Use any monochromatic color scheme!  Stamp and color the image; then, cut it out to make it three dimensional.  See what I mean?  Just let your imagination run wild!

Print Poetry DSP Meets Perfectly Penned

Here's a card I made for this week's Technostamper's TSSC255 Sketch.

The Spring Catalog has a really nice pack of designer paper called Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack on Pg. 16.  This card showcases one of them.

The card base is Very Vanilla card stock.  In the next element, I've layered Midnight Muse and Gumball Green card stocks and the Poetry Print Designer Series Paper.  

A piece of Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon is added.  This piece is attached to the card front using a generous amount of SNAIL Adhesive.

The greeting is from the set, Perfectly Penned, and is stamped on Very Vanilla card stock using Midnight Muse Classic Ink.  This piece is layered on Midnight Muse card stock and attached to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.

I die cut flowers using the Floral Fusion Sizzlit in Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit card stocks.  I punched a smaller flower using a punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and added as contrast to the Floral Fusions.  I used the Paper Piercing Tool on the flowers and added Metallic Brads in Gold.  I die cut leaves from the Little Leaves Sizzlit and Gumball Green card stock. 

Here's a look at the other patterns in the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack.  The paper measures 4-1/2" x 6-1/2".  There are 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs.

Perfectly Penned Meets Sycamore Street Circles

This card was inspired by one of the World Card Making Day winning cards.  I made it for a friend's birthday. I am really going to miss the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper from this year's Sale-A-Bration brochure!!

The card base is Whisper White card stock.  I used another layering piece of Whisper White and stamped the greeting in Island Indigo classic ink.

I added a strip of Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper (S-A-B) on the right.  Then I attached assorted patters from the same Designer Paper Pack behind the punched circles.  I attached to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive. 

I added a button from the S-A-B Ribbons and Buttons Pack that is threaded with Whisper White Baker's Twine and tied in a bow.  This is added to the front using Glue Dots.

Sweet Threads Simply Sent Cards

Hi Stamping Friends,

Please forgive my absence of the past month.  We were on vacation, had our whole family here (many of whom didn't feel well) and Steve and I got knocked for a loop when they left.  We are finally feeling better and I am so ready to be back in the routine.

These cards use a really cute set from the Spring Catalog called Sweet Threads Simply Sent Cards.  I hadn't cross stitched in years and found this a really fun project to complete.  You get everything you need to make 8 cards, including envelopes, die-cut pattern pieces, embroidery floss and two embroidery needles.  Even Stampin' Dimensionals are included!

The birthday card is made exactly as shown in the directions of the set.  The thank you card has an added piece of Primrose Petal, with rounded corners, behind the cross stitched piece.
