St. Patrick's Day

Hi Stampers!

You know I love challenges and here's another from SUDSOL, a Demonstrator's Group.  I have a limited supply (only 1) St. Patrick's Day themed stamp and this is what I came up with.  I'm sure I've seen the eyelet lace treatment many places on the web and I thank all of you for the inspiration you have provided.

The card base is Garden Green card stock.  The next layer is Whisper White card stock embossed with the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka Dot Textured Impression Folder.  The eyelet lace border is made using the Eyelet Border Punch on Whisper White card stock, then running through the Crimper.  This is attached to the bottom edge of the Polka Dot embossed panel using SNAIL adhesive.

The bottom half of the card is stamped using a stamp from the Boho Backgrounds stamp set and Versamark Ink. 

The greeting, Go Green, is an individual stamp available in the Occasions Mini, and is stamped in Garden Green Classic Ink on Garden Green card stock.  It is punched out using the Wide Oval Punch.  It is layered on a Garden Green oval die cut using the Ovals Originals Die and Big Shot.  A small Fire Square Rhinestone Brad accents the cloverleaf.  This is attached to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I used the new Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon to make the bow and accented with a large Fire Square Rhinestone brad.  The brads I used are actually yellow (didn't have any green).*  Would you have noticed? LOL   Holes were punched in both the ribbon and the greeting for the brads using the 1/16" Handheld Circle Punch.

For the inside, I layered a piece of Whisper White card stock that was printed with a St. Patrick's Day poem from the internet.  I'm really happy with how this card turned out. I'd love to hear what you think about it.  Please leave a comment below.  I appreciate you taking a moment to do so.

Who Doesn't Love Chocolate Bunnies?

Hi Stampers!

Here's a card we are making in class this month.  I was inspired by this card I saw on Becky Robert's blog.

The card base is Pretty In Pink card stock.  The next layer is Whisper White card stock that has been partially embossed using the Polka Dot Textured Embossing Folder.  I used the Big Shot and embossing a lot on this card.  I left the bottom edge of the Whisper White flat to have a good base to glue the "grass" to. 

I used Old Olive card stock and a plate from the Texture Plates Kit #4 to emboss.  Next, I used the Scallop Edge Punch on one long side of each piece.  These strips are only adhered along the bottom and sides to allow the bunnies and eggs to slip into the "grass". 

The bunnies are stamped using the Chocolate Bunny stamp from the Occasions Mini Catalog on Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip card stock with the matching Classic Ink for each.  They are trimmed out with paper snips and positioned in the grass using SNAIL adhesive.  The close to cocoa bunny has a dimensional behind its head.

The basket uses Creamy Caramel card stock that has been embossed in the Big Shot with another of the Texture Plates Kit #4 plates.  I sponged around the edges with Creamy Caramel Classic Ink.  The "grass" is a little strip of scallop edging that was left over. 

The eggs are punched using the Large Oval Punch and assorted papers from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack.  These are cut in half and layered behind the basket before inserting into the grass.  It's finished off with a Pretty In Pink Taffeta bow attached with a Mini Glue Dot.

Two-Step Bird Punch Mini Thank Yous

Hi Stampers,

I had fun today working on some mini thank you cards to place in my orders.  These cards measure 3" x 3", a perfect size for tucking a little note in a bag or gift.  Stampin' Up! also carries Mini Square Envelopes, perfect for these little mini cards.  I've had this punch for a while, but haven't used it until last night when I made this card.  They are so fast and easy to make.

 

I used 8.5" x 11" Whisper White card stock for these, but will use the 12" x 12" in the future as a more economical way to go.  I started by scoring at 3" along the length of the paper.  Then I cut at 6".  I turned the paper a quarter turn and cut at 3", resulting in 3 little mini cards already scored for folding.  12" x 12" card stock will allow you to cut 8 mini cards.

I cut Rose Red card stock to a 2-1/4" square and layered a 2" square of Whisper White card stock.  Now comes the fun part.  I used the Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch from the Occasions Mini Catalog to punch out the bird.  I love the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack, also from the Occasions Mini.  I used this to punch out the bird and the wing.  This shows both sides of this particular sheet.  The branch was punched using the same punch and Old Olive card stock.  The branch is adhered using the 2-Way Glue Pen and the bird using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The wing is also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  This awesome punch will punch out the bird, the wing and the branch!  Isn't it cute?

Well, then I thought...let's try some other colors from the DSP Stack.  So I came up with these four different samples.

These are all constructed exactly the same way.  I used Pretty in Pink, Taken with Teal and So Saffron card stocks for the mat colors.  I added a little sponging on the wing of the So Saffron bird so the tip didn't disappear on the white.  Each of the birds use a single Designer Paper showing both sides.  The Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack is a wonderful collection of designs.  There are 48 sheets total with 2 each of 24 double-sided 12" x 12" pages.  It's awesome and one of my favorites from the Occasions Mini.  This punch is a perfect way to use up scraps.  A strip of paper 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" will give you a bird and a wing.  A 1" strip will give you the branch.  It is one of the new style of punches introduced in the Occasions Mini.  It locks in the closed position and stands on end for easy storage.

I was having so much fun that before I knew it, they had multiplied...LOL.  Take a look!

Stampin' Up!'s Crazy for Cupcakes

Hi Stampers,

SUDSOL* had a Chat & Challenge yesterday with a a fun sketch.  Here's my take on it.  The base of the card uses Chocolate Chip card stock. 

If you haven't seen it yet, the Occasions Mini Catalog has an awesome collection of Designer Paper called the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack.  They have the most luscious colors and designs.  Included are several different color groupings of striped paper.  I chose one with pinks.  This is layered on Sage Shadow, using a very narrow border (kind of blends right in).  Click on the button to the right to view the Occasions Mini Catalog and check out all the papers offered in the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack.

The next element uses So Saffron card stock layered with Pretty in Pink, which has been dry embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder and the Big Shot.  This is wrapped using Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon and tied in a knot.

The main image is from the stamp set, Crazy for Cupcakes.  It is stamped on Whisper White card stock using Basic Brown Classic Ink.  These are colored using Stampin' Write markers - Melon Mambo for the cherries, Pretty in Pink for the icing and Close to Cocoa for the cupcake bottoms.  The stand is colored using the Chocolate Chip Marker.  This is layered on Chocolate Chip card stock and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Unless specified otherwise, I use SNAIL Permanent Adhesive to attach the layers.

Vintage Vogue Birthday

Hi Stampers,

Here's a card using a new stamp set I absolutely love called Vintage Vogue.  This was inspired by a card on the new Stampin' Connection website for Stampin' Up! demonstrators by the very talented Mary Brown.

This month my classes will feature three projects using the Vintage Vogue stamp set, Old Olive, Orchid Opulence and Rich Razzleberry card stock and Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper, as well as the Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.  This is one of the cards we will be making.  The Vintage Vogue stamp set is available from the current Occasions Mini Catalog (click on button to the right) and is offered in either Wood Mount or Clear Mount sets.  I used the Clear Mount stamps and Acrylic Blocks C and D. Clear Mount refers to the blocks.  The image is the same high quality rubber s the Wood mounts.  If you choose Clear Mount, you will need Acrylic Blocks.

The card base on all three cards will be Rich Razzleberry card stock.  This card has a layer of Old Olive card stock next. This will be added to the card base later.  The focal image has Rich Razzleberry as the base layered with Whisper White card stock that has been stamped with the vine stamp from Vintage Vogue in Old Olive Classic Ink.  The two large flowers have been inked in Rich Razzleberry Classic Ink and stamped off once before stamping on scraps of Whisper White card stock.  The centers are colored using the Old Olive Stampin' Write marker.  The small flowers have been stamped the same way only I used Orchid Opulence Classic Ink.  The centers on these are colored using the Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Write marker.  The flowers are cut out using Paper Snips (great little pair of nice sharp scissors) and then attached to the panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.  A small piece of Orchid Opulence card stock is punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch* and glued to the back of the focal piece. 

A strip of Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper is punched using the Scallop Trim Border Punch and glued to the Old Olive panel.  A piece of Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon is layered next, the edges glued on the back side.  After attaching this layer to the card base using SNAIL adhesive, the focal image is added using Stampin' Dimensionals and a small piece of ribbon is slipped under the flat piece and tied in a knot.

Clean and Simple Birthday

Hi Stampers,

Here's a quick birthday card we needed for a male friend.  I find masculine cards very hard to make, as do many of you.  I love Stampin' Up!'s new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack found in the new Occasions Mini (see button on right).  I've been using it quite a bit lately.  This card uses four more of the patterned papers included in that stack.

The card base is Kraft card stock.  The next layer is Taken with Teal with a Whisper White layer coming next.  I used the 1-1/4" Square punch to punch four different DSPs and layered them on the Whisper White card stock.  I used Natural Hemp to tie a bow and adhered using a Mini Glue Dot.  I was going for the gift package look here.  This is attached to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The greeting is from the stamp set, On Your Birthday.  I stamped on Whisper White card stock using Sahara Sand Classic Ink.  I punched the same Designer Papers using 1/4" Square punch and 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere.  I angled the square punch at the end to create a flag look.  This is layered on a strip of Taken with Teal, using the square punch on the end of this as well. 

As always, this card is all Stampin' Up!, all the time.

Vintage Birthday

Hi Stampers,

Here's a card I made with a vintage look for a weekly challenge over on the Late Night Stampers yahoo group.  The amount of talent over there is just staggering.  HERE is their group home page if you would like to join and be inspired.  This week's challenge is to make a project with a "vintage" feel.  I've used a lot of exciting new products to make this card

The card base is So Saffron card stock which is covered on the front with a piece from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I used the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch in the top right corner.

I used Pretty In Pink card stock for he panel and pierced a line across the top and bottom using the Mat Pack and Paper Piercing Tool.  A strip of So Saffron card stock, that has been punched with the new Scallop Trim Border punch*, is attached to the bottom edge using SNAIL adhesive.

The hearts are made using the Big Shot (I love my Big Shot), a new Stampin' Up! Embosslits Die called Scalloped Heart of Hearts and one of the hearts from the Sizzlits 4-Pack Die sets called Hearts Set.  The background heart was die cut using Chocolate Chip card stock.  The Scalloped Heart uses the same Designer Series Paper that covers the front, but in an area where there are no floral images.  The Embosslit both embosses and die cuts the images.  I used a Sanding Block across the top of the embossed dots to reveal the white core of the paper.  Then, I used a Sponge Dauber and Pretty In Pink Classic Ink to sponge the dots pink.  This is attached to the Pretty In Pink panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The flower in the center is punched using the Boho Blossoms Punch and Pretty In Pink card stock.  I die cut a button using the Buttons #5 Sizzlit Die and threaded it using Linen Thread.  The flower is also popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The greeting is from the new set, Well Scripted, which is also found in the Occasions Mini.  This set is available in both Wood Mount or Clear Mount.  I've used the Clear Mount set and Block C.  It is stamped in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. 

Just to clarify Clear Mount Stamps... the actual image is not clear.  It is the same high quality rubber and foam you find in the wood mount sets.  The block is a clear acrylic block that is nicely grooved on all four sides.  It allows you see exactly where you are stamping.  For 100% accuracy, it is recommended that you use a Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Playing with New Products

Hi Stampers,

Some new products arrived and I decided to use them for the latest Chat & Challenge Sketch on SUDSOL.  The card base is Sahara Sand card stock.  The Designer Paper is from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack, a fabulous collection of 48 -12" x 12" sheets; that is, 2 each of 24 double-sided designs.

This is layered on Pumpkin Pie card stock and Rose Red card stock, two of the coordinating colors of this DSP Stack.  I used the brand new Scallop Trim Border Punch (which I chose as my free Sale-A-Bration choice with a $50 purchase) to edge one side of both card stocks.

I faux-wrapped* 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon and added a knot.  This is attached to the card base using SNAIL adhesive.

The greeting is from the set, Teeny Tiny Wishes, and is stamped on a scrap of the same Designer Series Paper using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  It is punched out using the Large Oval Punch.  This is layered on Whisper White card stock.  The next two layers repeat the pattern used on the long strip, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red card stocks punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  It's popped up and attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

You really need to check out the new Occasions Mini Catalog by clicking on the button to the right.  It is filled with so many fantastic products.  While you're over there, click on the Sale-A-Bration tab, too, and see what you can earn for free for every $50 purchase.  And, notice too, that you have the option of choosing Wood Mount OR Clear Mount stamps from both of these catalogs.

* Maybe there is another name for this, but I call it faux-wrapped.  Cut your ribbon about 1" longer than the piece you are attaching it to.  Add a little SNAIL near the top and bottom edges of the paper.  Lay your ribbon down and turn over to the back side.  Add a little more SNAIL at the top and bottom and fold the ribbon ends to the back.  Now, turn back to the front side.  Take another piece of ribbon approximately 5" long, slide it under the piece you've already attached and tie a single knot.  There you have it!  You may find it necessary to add a Mini Glue Dot under the knot you just tied to hold it in place.  This technique really helps to conserve the amount of ribbon you use.

Animal Stories Sketch Challenge

Hi Stampers,

Today I have a card for you that I made for the weekly sketch challenge on SUDSOL, a Demonstrator website.  I seem to be in kid mode lately, so I brought out the Stampin' Up! set called Animal Stories.  I stamped the images on Whisper White card stock using Chocolate Chip for the elephant, Rose Red for the Owl and So Saffron Classic inks for the giraffe. 

I stamped the giraffe twice and cut one out using my Paper Snips.  I love these little scissors.  They are nice and sharp and get into those little spots with relative ease.  It's hard to see from the picture, but the giraffe block has the image cut "out of the box".  In other words, I trimmed the card stock from around the head and legs, then trimmed the block to the size of the others.  My camera battery died before I could get another picture...sorry.  I will try and remember to take another one showing more clearly and add it to this post later.

The three blocks are mounted on a strip of Old Olive card stock.  The background for that strip is from the Designer Series Paper Collection called Tall Tales.  It has lots of whimsical designs just perfect for a child's card.

The Tall Tales DSP piece has a strip of Rose Red card stock edging the bottom that has been punched out using the Scallop Edge Punch.  Beneath that layer is a piece of Old Olive card stock that has also been punched using the same punch.

I added a length of Always Apricot 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon (doesn't sound like it would match, but it's perfect) and adhered on the back side.  A smaller piece is slipped under and tied into a single not...easy peasy way to add ribbon to a project. 

The strip is adhered to the Designer Paper layer using SNAIL Adhesive.  All the layers are attached to the card body, which is Chocolate Chip card stock, using SNAIL.  The trimmed out giraffe is popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals and overlays the stamped image on the block.
