Now that I've had time to use them, I wanted to talk to you about the new option for stamps offered by Stampin' Up!  I was so excited to see them add the Clear Mount option in the new Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration brochures.

You will still have the option of choosing Wood Mount stamps.  You will receive the same high-quality. die cut rubber images with either choice.  They are easy to use and easy to store.  The acrylic blocks are crystal clear and beautifully crafted.

Playing with New Products

Hi Stampers,

Some new products arrived and I decided to use them for the latest Chat & Challenge Sketch on SUDSOL.  The card base is Sahara Sand card stock.  The Designer Paper is from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack, a fabulous collection of 48 -12" x 12" sheets; that is, 2 each of 24 double-sided designs.

This is layered on Pumpkin Pie card stock and Rose Red card stock, two of the coordinating colors of this DSP Stack.  I used the brand new Scallop Trim Border Punch (which I chose as my free Sale-A-Bration choice with a $50 purchase) to edge one side of both card stocks.

I faux-wrapped* 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon and added a knot.  This is attached to the card base using SNAIL adhesive.

The greeting is from the set, Teeny Tiny Wishes, and is stamped on a scrap of the same Designer Series Paper using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  It is punched out using the Large Oval Punch.  This is layered on Whisper White card stock.  The next two layers repeat the pattern used on the long strip, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red card stocks punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  It's popped up and attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

* Maybe there is another name for this, but I call it faux-wrapped.  Cut your ribbon about 1" longer than the piece you are attaching it to.  Add a little SNAIL near the top and bottom edges of the paper.  Lay your ribbon down and turn over to the back side.  Add a little more SNAIL at the top and bottom and fold the ribbon ends to the back.  Now, turn back to the front side.  Take another piece of ribbon approximately 5" long, slide it under the piece you've already attached and tie a single knot.  There you have it!  You may find it necessary to add a Mini Glue Dot under the knot you just tied to hold it in place.  This technique really helps to conserve the amount of ribbon you use.

Shabby Blooms

Hi Stampers!

Here in Palm Coast, FL, Spring has arrived.  As you can see by this card and the one in the previous post, we are using the soft colors that coordinate with the Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper from this year's Sale-a-Bration promotion.  This is the second card in the set we are making in this month's classes.  The layout comes from a card we made at the Orlando Regionals in January.  We are using stamps and Designer paper from the S-A-B catalog that you may earn for free, based on your purchases.

The card base is Sahara Sand, which has been stamped along the upper portion with the smaller petal stamp from Botanical Blooms and Versamark ink.  A strip of the Delicate Dots Designer Series paper has been punched along the bottom using the Scallop Edge punch.  A narrow strip of Bashful Blue card stock is layered beneath the top edge and two brads have been added before adhering to the card base.  A greeting from Sincere Salutations is stamped in Saraha Sand Classic ink on the lower portion.

The focal image uses Very Vanilla card stock layered with So Saffron card stock.  Both layers have been distressed using the Cutter Kit distressing tool.  The larger flower is inked in So Saffron Classic ink, stamped off and then stamped on the Very Vanilla several times in a random pattern.  The smaller bloom is inked in Bashful Blue, stamped off and stamped randomly.  The leaves are inked in Certainly Celery, stamped off and also stamped randomly filling in the space.  A 1/8" circle is punched in the top left corner.  A short piece of Bashful Blue Taffeta ribbon is threaded through and tied together using a piece of Linen Thread.  A  brad is added in the same hole.  This is attached to the card using Dimensionals.  I have layered a piece of Very Vanilla card stock on the inside for your sentiment or note and stamped the flowers and leaves in the same manner in the lower left corner. This card can be used for any occasion.  Why not make up a few of these without the greeting or sentiment to have ready to use?  When you need a card, simply add the appropriate greeting.  This is a very quick and easy card to put together.

Delicate Botanical Dots

Here's a card we are making in this month's classes.  It is the first card in a set of three using Sale-A-Bration products.  This card uses the set Botanical Blooms and the Designer Series Paper Delicate Dots, both from the SAB catalog. The card base is Kraft cardstock.  I've used the stripes from the Delicate Dots DSP, adding a strip of Whisper White along the bottom that has been punched with the Scallop Edge punch.  A piece of the So Saffron 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon from the same SAB catalog is knotted and layered over the top edge of the designer paper.  The focal image is from the Botanical Blooms stamp set.  Two of the flowers are stamped in So Saffron and one in Bashful Blue Classic Inks on Whisper White cardstock.  The leaves are positioned using the Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped in Certainly Celery.  This set is a 2 step stamp set.  I stamped the detail outline first and then stamped the insides after stamping off once.  I've layered the image on So Saffron, then Bashful Blue cardstocks and attached to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The greeting is from the set Sincere Salutations and stamped using Sahara Sand Classic Ink.  This card has such a soft pretty look in real life.

Friendship's Birthday Bloom

Here's a really bright card (IRL) based on Sketch Challenge 163 over on SCS and Julie's Color Concoction here.  The cardbase is Ballet Blue cardstock and is 5-3/8" square.  I stamped some swirls from the Sale-A-Bration set Friendship Blooms in Ballet blue for added interest on the cardbase.  I stamped the blossom from  Friendship Blooms twice on Whisper White cardstock with Cameo Coral Classic Ink.  I stamped two more times after inking the centers with an Apricot Appeal marker and trimmed those.  I used a Blender Pen and Cameo Coral and Apricot Appeal classic inks to add color to the blooms.  I stacked all the layers and punched a 1/8" hole to add the Rhinestone circle brad.  I also stamped two sets of leaves on Certainly Celery cardstock with Certainly Celery Ink and trimmed those to add to the layers.  The remaining stamping was all done tone on tone with the same color ink as the paper.  I layered Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral and Apricot Appeal, stamping some of the flowers to create the tonal look.  Then I layered Cameo Coral and Ballet Blue and stamped the swirls in Cameo Coral.  Next I layered Certainly Celery on Ballet Blue and stamped another swirl and the sentiment from Hugs & Wishes stamp set.  I attached the blossom using Dimensionals to pop it up.  How do you like it?
