Hello, Doily

Hi Stamping Friends,

I finally purchased the Hello, Doily stamp and don't know why I waited so long.  I love it!  I saw a card on Lynn Starzl's blog and was inspired to make this one.  This card shows a technique called Emboss Resist and it's so easy!

The card base is Wisteria Wonder card stock.  The next layer up is Pool Party card stock.  The focal images are stamped on Whisper White card stock.

First, I stamped the floral spray from the stamp set, Just Believe, in Wisteria Wonder classic ink.  Next, I stamped Hello, Doily in Versamark, dusted with Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed with the Heat Tool.  Then, I sponged Pool Party and Wisteria Wonder over the embossed image and out to the edges.  I wiped with a tissue to remove any excess ink that might be sitting on the embossed areas.  I used the Paper Piercing Tool in the center of the doily and added an In Color Printed Designer Brad.  The Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon bow is wrapped to the back side and adhered with SNAIL on the back of the Pool Party card stock.  I used the clear mount version of Just Believe and used Clear Block "E".  This is added to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.  I just love Pool Party paired with Wisteria Wonder!  What do you think?  If you have a minute, please let me know by leaving a comment.

Frosty Stitched Stocking

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card we made in class last month.  The ribbon/snowflake element was inspired by a card I saw on Jan Tink's Blog.

I seem to be really liking the mostly white Christmas cards this year.  I'll have another later on.  Here is one I did earlier.  This one uses my favorite new In Color - Pool Party. 

The base is Whisper White card stock.  The next layer is Pool Party card stock.  Layered on this is another piece of Whisper White card stock that has been run through the Big Shot using the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.  The layers are attached using SNAIL Adhesive.  I've added a few Jewels Basic-Rhinestones to the center of the snowflakes.

The stocking is from the Holiday Mini catalog stamp set called Stitched Stockings.  It's stamped on Whisper White card stock in Pool Party classic ink.  It's punched out using the Stocking Builder Punch, also from the Holiday Mini catalog.  I've added a Rhinestone in the center of the snowflake.  If using the Clear Mount stamps, Clear Block "D" will accommodate all the stamps in the set.

The embellishment consists of a Die-Cut Snowflake, White Organza Ribbon, Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, another Die-Cut Snowflake and a Silver Mini Brad.  I used the Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce through all the layers, including the stocking, and inserting a Mini Silver Brad.  The entire element is attached to the card front using several Mini Glue Dots.  I did add a Stampin' Dimensional under the toe of the stocking. 

The Snowflake Die Cut is made using the Big Shot and the Northern Frost Decorative Sizzlit Die.  You will need the Decorative Strip Cutting Pads and Spacer Platform.  This Sizzlit cuts 8 different snowflakes.  Click on the link for a closer look.

The greeting is from the stamp set, Christmas Greetings - one of my personal favorites, and is stamped in Pool Party Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock.  I used my Paper Snips to cut dovetails on the ends.  It's attached to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

This is a great stamp set and has a lot of different ways you can use the stockings, some very non-traditional.  I'll show you some in another post.  Here's what comes in the stamp set.  Aren't they cute?

Berry Blossoms Thank You

Hi Stamping Friends,

I needed some thank you cards and this sketch was a great way to showcase some of the new In Colors and one of the patterns of the Berry Blossom Designer Series Papers.

The base is Whisper White and is one of the Note Cards available in a set of 20 including Envelopes.  They measure 5" x 3-1/2" and come scored and ready to fold.  I love this size for any type of quick note or card you may need to send.

The next layer is Wisteria Wonder card stock that is run through the Big Shot in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  It is edged with a strip of Calypso Coral and a piece of Lucky Limeade card stock that has been punched using the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  SNAIL Adhesive is used to attach these.

A strip of Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper is added. 

The greeting is from the stamp set, Fabulous Phrases, a great set of 30 words that you can mix and match to suit your need.  It is stamped in Wisteria Wonder Classic Ink on a scrap of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped first and then punched a circle using the 1-1/4" Circle Punch.  This is layered on a 1-3/8" Circle Punch of Lucky Limeade card stock.  The flowers are punched in the same three colors using a punch from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  A tiny pearl is added from the Jewels Basic Pearls.  I used a small dot of Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach the flowers to the circle.  You could also use Mini Glue Dot if you wish.  This element is added to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals. 

This sketch would work equally as well rotated 90 degrees.  Check out the stamp set I used.  It's available in both the wood mount and clear mount.  One advantage of the clear mount is you can use several words on the same block.  I used Block  "B" and a Stampin' Write  Marker to color the images since I did not want an "s" on the end of the word thanks.   You can see how versatile this stamp set is.

Telescoping Berry Blossoms

Here's a cool card we made in class last month.  It's called a Telescoping Card.  It was so fun to make and it gave me the chance to play with my Circle Scissors Plus!  I was a little afraid to use it, but it is so easy once you know the secret...that is, Dotto!  I just laid down some Dotto, a repositionable adhesive, on the Circle Scissors Plus Glass Cutting Mat and it worked perfectly! 

To start, I used the Scallop Circle Die and the Big Shot to die cut an Early Expresso card stock base.  This is layered with a Calypso Coral circle on which I stamped a sentiment from the stamp set, Full of Life, in Early Expresso Classic Ink. I did use the Early Expresso Stampin' Write Marker to color the sentiment because I did not want to use all the words included on the stamp.  This completes the bottom section.

Next, I used the Circle Scissors Plus and cut a Wisteria Wonder card stock circle and a slightly smaller Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper circle and attached to each other using SNAIL Adhesive.  Middle section done.

The top section and card "front" is a circle of Lucky Limeade card stock cut with the Circle Scissors Plus and a Whisper White card stock circle punched with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch. * The greeting is from the stamp set Curly Cute.  Before adhering the two layers together, I inserted a small piece of Certainly Celery 5/8" Satin Ribbon to make a pull tab.

The flowers are die cut using the Floral Fusion Sizzlit in Calypso Coral and Wisteria Wonder card stocks.  I also die cut a Lucky Limeade one to use as leaves.  I used the Paper Piercing Tool and Mat Pack in the center of each flower and Gold Brads are added.  The Wisteria Wonder flower has the largest layer omitted and a small flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack as the top layer.  These are attached using Stampin' Dimensionals and a Mini Glue Dot.

To assemble, layer the bottom section and middle section, making sure it is centered.  Use the Paper Piercing Tool and Mat Pack and pierce  a hole near the top of the middle section and add a Gold Brad.

Next, with the middle section open, center the top over it and pierce another hole and add the Gold Brad. This brad will appear at the bottom of your top front section with the card in the closed position.  You will have to pay attention to the direction your greeting is placed before piercing the hole for this Brad.

This is such a fun card to make and it really is fast and easy.  Our Medium Square Envelopes are perfect for mailing these cards, but may require extra postage.  My feeling is that if you are going to take the extra time to make a special card like this, then the extra postage is so worth it.

* Here's a tip..stamp your greeting on a piece of scrap paper first and then punch out your circle.  You will be able to perfectly place your greeting, but make sure your scrap paper is big enough to accomodate the punch you want to use.

Extreme Elements Meets Summer Splash

I really love color challenges! Not only do they take me out of my comfort zone, but I use color combinations I would never have thought of.  I made this card for ColourQ Challenge #95.  The colors used are Early Expresso, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Island Indigo and Whisper White.  I decided to use today's sketch from Create with Connie & Mary.

The card starts with Early Expresso card stock as the base.  This is layered with Calypso Coral card stock, followed by Whisper White card stock.  The Whisper White is stamped using images from Stampin' Up!'s Extreme Elements stamp set and Pool Party and Island Indigo Classic Inks. 

I ran the Calypso Coral card stock strip through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and the Island Indigo card stock strip using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Attach these using SNAIL Adhesive. 

I stamped the surfboard images from Summer Splash in Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Island Indigo Classic Inks and trimmed them out using my favorite - Paper Snips.  These are attached to Whisper White card stock using Stampin' Dimensionals. I used Clear Block "E" with the surfboards image.

Before attaching this element, I wrapped 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon around the layers and tied a simple square knot.  This element is attached to the card body using SNAIL Adhesive.  Finally, the surfboard element is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I'm going to be sorry to see Summer Splash go.  It is in the Summer Mini Catalog, which ends August 31st.  It has the cutest images, especially for beach lovers. 

This fun card is great for male or female, young or young at heart.

Button, Button Any Occasion

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here's a card we made in class this month.  It uses the Stampin' Up! stamp set called Button, Button.  This was featured in the Occasions Mini Catalog, but is now in the new 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog...YAY!  I was inspired by a video I saw on YouTube by Elmerstamper.  This stamp set is available in both clear mount and wood mount.

This month all three class cards use In Colors plus a Neutral.  You can see the other two here and here.  Please leave a comment and let me know how you like these In Color cards!

The base of this card uses Blushing Bride card stock.  This color was introduced in the last catalog and will retire at the end of the current catalog next June.

The next layer is Whisper White card stock.  One of the button stamps (4 little buttons) was stamped along the side to make a border using Pool Party Classic Ink.  This was attached to the card body using SNAIL Adhesive.  A strip of Pool Party card stock was run through the Big Shot using the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and attached using SNAIL Adhesive.  Clear Block "C" was used to stamp all the buttons.

The focal image uses many different buttons, some of which were stamped on scrap paper and punched using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack (circle) and the 3/4" Circle punches.  I used Blushing Bride, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral and Pool Party Classic Inks. If you will notice the small solid color buttons that are popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals, they are the centers of the button stamp shown below in the bottom row, second from the left.  I used the Itty Bitty Punch Pack Circle Punch on those.

The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Calypso Coral Classic Ink. This is mounted on a Blushing Bride mat and attached to the card using SNAIL Adhesive.  Stampin' Dimensionals would also be appropriate to use.

You don't have to be a seamstress to appreciate this adorable card! The Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set works very well on this and has many occasions to choose from.

Summer Splash Surf's Up!

Hi Stamping Friends,

Here is another card that features a stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog called Summer Splash.  This is such a fun set.  I've also used all of the five new In Colors introduced in the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog.  Have you seen it yet?  WOW!

The card base is Crumb Cake card stock, one of my favorite go-to colors.  I used the Signo Gel Pen to add faux stitching around the edge. Now, don't get too fussy over this part.  This is a handmade card and the charm of it is that it is not perfect!

While this looks and sounds complicated, it really isn't.  As I said, I'm using the stamp set called Summer Splash.  I love this surf board image!  I used the new 2011-2013 In Color Stampin' Write markers to color the stamp.  Be sure, and this is important, be sure to "huff" on the image to re-moisturize the ink that may have dried while you were coloring BEFORE you stamp onto the Whisper White card stock.

I used the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch on the upper corners of both the Whisper White and Island Indigo card stocks.  I also used the Scallop Edge Border Punch to punch the bottom edge of the Island Indigo piece.

Before I go any further, I'll tell you the names of the new In Colors.  You will feel like you've been transported away to an island resort...hehe.  There is Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Pool Party, Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder and these will be available for two years!  Just look at those luscious colors!

I cut 3/4" strips of the remaining In Colors and punched each with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  I layered these on the Island Indigo card stock in a pleasing manner to me, attaching with SNAIL Adhesive.  Your coloring and layering can be done in any way that you like.

To attach the stamped image, I used SNAIL Adhesive along the bottom and three Stampin' Dimensionals across the top.  This entire piece is added to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive. 

I stamped two of the sand dollar image on a scrap of Whisper White card stock after inking with the Pool Party Stampin' Write Marker.  You could cut these out, but I used the small circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.  These are attached using Mini Glue Dots.

I used the Clear Mount version of this stamp set, so I will include the Clear Blocks I used in the Accessories List below.  Isn't this just the cutest set?

Curly Cute Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch

I've finally had a chance to play with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and I love it!  It has a slight learning curve, but that is quickly conquered.  It's really just getting the "feel" of each layer.  There's very little stamping , but it really packs a wow punch (no pun intended..hehe)! 

The base is Whisper White card stock.  I punched the blossoms using the fabulous Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and several of Stampin' Up!'s newest In Colors.  I am using two of the layers that this punch is capable of punching.  Here are the shapes punched by each layer of this amazing punch.  Click on the photo for a larger view.  Of course, you also get the little punched shapes from the most detailed blossom.  They make great flames for a candle or watermelon seeds or whatever you can imagine.

The In Colors I used are the new Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder and Lucky Limeade card stocks, as well as Blushing Bride, one of the five introduced last year.

I used the 2-Way Glue Pen to attach the detailed blossom to the solid blossom.  I attached these to a separate Whisper White card stock layer using SNAIL Adhesive. 

Now, this is where the magic happens.  I ran this through the Big Shot using the Lattice Square Embossing Folder to achieve the Embedded Embossing look.  Click on the photo for a closer look.  This is adhered to the front of the card using SNAIL adhesive. 

I added Jewels Basic Rhinestones for some sparkles. 

The greeting is from Curly Cute and is stamped in Lucky Limeade Classic Ink on Whisper White card stock.  I used my Paper Snips to dove tail the ends and attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Friends Never Fade Faux Silk

Hi Stamping Friends,

I'm going to miss this greeting from the All Holidays Stamp set!  Only a few more days until the Last Chance stamps will no longer be available to purchase.

Here's a card that uses the Faux Silk Technique.  The card base uses Pear Pizzazz card stock.  I used the stamp set called Friends Never Fade in the Clear Mount version.  Clear Block "D" will accomodate all the stamps in the set.  I colored the flower image using the Stampin' Write Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight markers and stamped randomly on Whisper White card stock.  This is attached to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.

This is the piece that has the Faux Silk on it.  Tissue paper is glued on top of the stamped image.  

This piece is layered on Pumpkin Pie card stock that has been punched along one side using the Scallop Trim Border Punch. 

A piece of the 1/2" Pear Pizzazz Stitched Poly Ribbon is wrapped around the card front and tied in a simple knot.

The greeting is from the stamp set All Holidays and is colored using the Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Markers and stamped on Whisper White card stock.  This is also layered on Pumpkin Pie card stock that has been punched using the same Scallop Trim Border Punch.  It is attached to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Fun Flowers Case Challenge

Hi Stamping Friends,

I made this for the weekly case challenge last week on SUDSOL.  This was cased from a sample in our Demonstrator monthly magazine, Stampin' Success.   If you're a Demonstrator, scroll down to the link in the left side bar to learn more about SUDSOL.

The finished card measures 3" x 6". I used Peach Parfait card stock, cut 6" x 6" and scored at 3".  

I added a strip of one of the designs from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper, a Sneak Peek Special from last month.  It is punched along the bottom using the Scallop Edge Border Punch and attached to the card front using SNAIL Adhesive.  I wrapped Linen Thread around twice and tied a bow.

The greeting is from the stamp set, Wonderful Favorites, and is stamped using Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink.  I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig (a stamp positioning system) to get just the right placement of the words.  I added five Jewels Basic Pearls as an accent.

The flower is die cut using the Fun Flowers Bigz Die and the Big Shot.  The largest layer uses Marina Mist card stock.  The next two layers use Baja Breeze card stock.  The flower center is cut from Peach Parfait and Cherry Cobbler card stock.  The leaves are punched from Old Olive card stock using the Large Oval Punch and trimmed to a point on one end using my Paper Snips.  Before assembling the flower, I misted heavily using our Stampin' Mist Cleaner, and crumpled the three layers into tight little balls.  You can use water, too, but the Stampin' Mist makes is smell nice too!  I gently un-crumpled the layers and let sit to dry.  When dry, I sponged the edges using Marina Mist Classic Ink and sponge. The layers are attached using Mini Glue Dots.  I added three more Jewels Basic Pearls to the center of the flower.  It's attached to the card front using Mini Glue Dots.

I will use the Small Open-End Envelopes to mail this.  As always, all supplies used are © Stampin' Up!
