Who Doesn't Love Chocolate Bunnies?

Hi Stampers!

Here's a card we are making in class this month.  I was inspired by this card I saw on Becky Robert's blog.

The card base is Pretty In Pink card stock.  The next layer is Whisper White card stock that has been partially embossed using the Polka Dot Textured Embossing Folder.  I used the Big Shot and embossing a lot on this card.  I left the bottom edge of the Whisper White flat to have a good base to glue the "grass" to. 

I used Old Olive card stock and a plate from the Texture Plates Kit #4 to emboss.  Next, I used the Scallop Edge Punch on one long side of each piece.  These strips are only adhered along the bottom and sides to allow the bunnies and eggs to slip into the "grass". 

The bunnies are stamped using the Chocolate Bunny stamp from the Occasions Mini Catalog on Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip card stock with the matching Classic Ink for each.  They are trimmed out with paper snips and positioned in the grass using SNAIL adhesive.  The close to cocoa bunny has a dimensional behind its head.

The basket uses Creamy Caramel card stock that has been embossed in the Big Shot with another of the Texture Plates Kit #4 plates.  I sponged around the edges with Creamy Caramel Classic Ink.  The "grass" is a little strip of scallop edging that was left over. 

The eggs are punched using the Large Oval Punch and assorted papers from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack.  These are cut in half and layered behind the basket before inserting into the grass.  It's finished off with a Pretty In Pink Taffeta bow attached with a Mini Glue Dot.

Two-Step Bird Punch Mini Thank Yous

Hi Stampers,

I had fun today working on some mini thank you cards to place in my orders.  These cards measure 3" x 3", a perfect size for tucking a little note in a bag or gift.  Stampin' Up! also carries Mini Square Envelopes, perfect for these little mini cards.  I've had this punch for a while, but haven't used it until last night when I made this card.  They are so fast and easy to make.

 

I used 8.5" x 11" Whisper White card stock for these, but will use the 12" x 12" in the future as a more economical way to go.  I started by scoring at 3" along the length of the paper.  Then I cut at 6".  I turned the paper a quarter turn and cut at 3", resulting in 3 little mini cards already scored for folding.  12" x 12" card stock will allow you to cut 8 mini cards.

I cut Rose Red card stock to a 2-1/4" square and layered a 2" square of Whisper White card stock.  Now comes the fun part.  I used the Extra Large Two-Step Bird punch from the Occasions Mini Catalog to punch out the bird.  I love the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack, also from the Occasions Mini.  I used this to punch out the bird and the wing.  This shows both sides of this particular sheet.  The branch was punched using the same punch and Old Olive card stock.  The branch is adhered using the 2-Way Glue Pen and the bird using Stampin' Dimensionals.  The wing is also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  This awesome punch will punch out the bird, the wing and the branch!  Isn't it cute?

Well, then I thought...let's try some other colors from the DSP Stack.  So I came up with these four different samples.

These are all constructed exactly the same way.  I used Pretty in Pink, Taken with Teal and So Saffron card stocks for the mat colors.  I added a little sponging on the wing of the So Saffron bird so the tip didn't disappear on the white.  Each of the birds use a single Designer Paper showing both sides.  The Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack is a wonderful collection of designs.  There are 48 sheets total with 2 each of 24 double-sided 12" x 12" pages.  It's awesome and one of my favorites from the Occasions Mini.  This punch is a perfect way to use up scraps.  A strip of paper 1-1/4" x 2-1/2" will give you a bird and a wing.  A 1" strip will give you the branch.  It is one of the new style of punches introduced in the Occasions Mini.  It locks in the closed position and stands on end for easy storage.

I was having so much fun that before I knew it, they had multiplied...LOL.  Take a look!

Vintage Birthday

Hi Stampers,

Here's a card I made with a vintage look for a weekly challenge over on the Late Night Stampers yahoo group.  The amount of talent over there is just staggering.  HERE is their group home page if you would like to join and be inspired.  This week's challenge is to make a project with a "vintage" feel.  I've used a lot of exciting new products to make this card

The card base is So Saffron card stock which is covered on the front with a piece from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I used the 3/16" Corner Rounder Punch in the top right corner.

I used Pretty In Pink card stock for he panel and pierced a line across the top and bottom using the Mat Pack and Paper Piercing Tool.  A strip of So Saffron card stock, that has been punched with the new Scallop Trim Border punch*, is attached to the bottom edge using SNAIL adhesive.

The hearts are made using the Big Shot (I love my Big Shot), a new Stampin' Up! Embosslits Die called Scalloped Heart of Hearts and one of the hearts from the Sizzlits 4-Pack Die sets called Hearts Set.  The background heart was die cut using Chocolate Chip card stock.  The Scalloped Heart uses the same Designer Series Paper that covers the front, but in an area where there are no floral images.  The Embosslit both embosses and die cuts the images.  I used a Sanding Block across the top of the embossed dots to reveal the white core of the paper.  Then, I used a Sponge Dauber and Pretty In Pink Classic Ink to sponge the dots pink.  This is attached to the Pretty In Pink panel using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The flower in the center is punched using the Boho Blossoms Punch and Pretty In Pink card stock.  I die cut a button using the Buttons #5 Sizzlit Die and threaded it using Linen Thread.  The flower is also popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The greeting is from the new set, Well Scripted, which is also found in the Occasions Mini.  This set is available in both Wood Mount or Clear Mount.  I've used the Clear Mount set and Block C.  It is stamped in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. 

Just to clarify Clear Mount Stamps... the actual image is not clear.  It is the same high quality rubber and foam you find in the wood mount sets.  The block is a clear acrylic block that is nicely grooved on all four sides.  It allows you see exactly where you are stamping.  For 100% accuracy, it is recommended that you use a Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Playing with New Products

Hi Stampers,

Some new products arrived and I decided to use them for the latest Chat & Challenge Sketch on SUDSOL.  The card base is Sahara Sand card stock.  The Designer Paper is from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack, a fabulous collection of 48 -12" x 12" sheets; that is, 2 each of 24 double-sided designs.

This is layered on Pumpkin Pie card stock and Rose Red card stock, two of the coordinating colors of this DSP Stack.  I used the brand new Scallop Trim Border Punch (which I chose as my free Sale-A-Bration choice with a $50 purchase) to edge one side of both card stocks.

I faux-wrapped* 1/4" Pumpkin Pie Grosgrain ribbon and added a knot.  This is attached to the card base using SNAIL adhesive.

The greeting is from the set, Teeny Tiny Wishes, and is stamped on a scrap of the same Designer Series Paper using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  It is punched out using the Large Oval Punch.  This is layered on Whisper White card stock.  The next two layers repeat the pattern used on the long strip, Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red card stocks punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  It's popped up and attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

* Maybe there is another name for this, but I call it faux-wrapped.  Cut your ribbon about 1" longer than the piece you are attaching it to.  Add a little SNAIL near the top and bottom edges of the paper.  Lay your ribbon down and turn over to the back side.  Add a little more SNAIL at the top and bottom and fold the ribbon ends to the back.  Now, turn back to the front side.  Take another piece of ribbon approximately 5" long, slide it under the piece you've already attached and tie a single knot.  There you have it!  You may find it necessary to add a Mini Glue Dot under the knot you just tied to hold it in place.  This technique really helps to conserve the amount of ribbon you use.

White Dasher

Hi Stampers!

Here's a quick little thank you card made from a scrap on my worktable.  Dasher...I love this little stamp and I've used it a lot this year!  The card base is Basic Gray.  The next layer is Whisper White and the top is a piece of the Holiday Lounge Designer Series paper.  I stamped Dasher in Versamark, added White Stampin' Emboss Powder and used the Heat Tool to heat emboss.  Thank You, from Teeny Tiny Wishes, is embossed the same way.  A little 2-Way Glue Pen and some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter add some sparkle.  The Whisper White Satin Ribbon is faux wrapped and a bow is attached using Mini Glue Dots.  Done!  Fast and easy.

I'm going to see what I can come up with using more scraps.  Stay tuned!

Golden Dasher Meets Bride Specialty Paper

Hi Stampers,

I wanted to make a special card for my customers who took time out of their crazy busy schedules to attend my Open House.  Hopefully, they have all received their cards by now.  This is what I came up with.  This also fits the PPA21 Theme Challenge found here

The card base is Whisper White card stock.

Moving forward is a layer of Brushed Gold card stock.  Next is a piece of the most elegant Specialty Paper called Bride.  In each package there are two designs.  You get five 12" x 12" sheets of each of the two designs!  It is gorgeous and is currently my absolute favorite paper.  I love it!  A strip of Brushed Gold is added next and Whisper White Organza Ribbon is layered onto this strip*.  This segment is attached to the card base using Mini Glue Dots in the corners and SNAIL adhesive along the sides.  I used the glue dots because the papers and layers create a little more weight than usual.

The image is the stamp called Dasher.  This comes as an individual stamp.  I used Versamark to stamp him on Whisper White card stock.  I used Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool to create an embossed image.  I dabbed the antlers with the 2 Way Glue Pen and added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  I also added some Glitter along the bottom for a snowy look.  This is layered on Brushed Gold card stock and added to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. 

I hope they like it!!  I love it.  You have to see the Bride Specialty paper in real life to appreciate it's beauty.

* Tip:  In an effort to conserve ribbon and eliminate frustration, I have begun to simply adhere a piece of ribbon just long enough to wrap to the back about 1/2" on each side.  Then, take another piece of ribbon about 4-1/2-5" and slip under the strip of ribbon and tie a single knot.  It is so much easier than trying to wrap a piece of ribbon all the way around the card stock, and then get it tight enough so you can tie a knot.  Try this next time you want to add some ribbon to your project.

Wandering Words Meet Cocoa Christmas

Hi Stampers!

Hope life is not too crazy for you these days!  I am officially done with cookie making and making and sending Christmas cards and I can breathe a sigh of relief.  Here is a project I made for display at my Open House last week.  It is a card purse and set of four cards.  The tote is made from a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.  If you search Resourses for Card Purse, it will pop up.  I don't have the link right now. I did use Sticky Strip to secure the purse.

The card design was inspired by this card from Andrea Walford.  The base for both the cards and the purse is Chocolate Chip card stock.  The focal image starts with a base of Real Red card stock.  Santa and his sleigh is from the Stampin' Up! set. Wandering Words, from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  This is stamped in Chocolate Chip Classic ink on Whisper White card stock.  The bottom half is from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper Collection, also in the Holiday Mini.  I can't get enough of this paper.  All the designs are awesome!

Real Red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon is wrapped along the seam.  A small piece of ribbon makes the knot.

The card purse is embellished with Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads and 5/8" Real Red Grosgrain ribbon for the handles. I dabbed the 2-Way Glue pen on the stars of the stamped image and added Dazzling Diamond Glitter.  It really sparkles in real life.  This makes a nice little hostess gift for those holiday parties...if you can give it away...LOL.  Wandering Words is a very versatile set that is only available through January 4, 2010.  It covers Fall, Christmas and Valentine's Day.  Click on the image for a closer look.  Click HERE to see all the products in the Holiday Mini Catalog.  Don't forget - January 4th is the last day to order from this Mini.

Hanukkah & Christmas Card

Here's a card a made to send to friends who celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas.  It's very similar to one I posted yesterday here, which lists where the tutorial is located for the Crimped panel.

The card base is Whisper White card stock, as is the panel that has been crimped.   I enlarged the diamond panels a bit to accommodate both the Let There Be Light stamp and pine bough from Autumn Days. 

I stamped Let There Be Light in Versamark and embossed using the Heat Tool and Silver Embossing Powder.  

I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the pine bough stamp after coloring with Handsome Hunter and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write markers.  I stamped the pine cones a second time, trimmed them and attached using a Mini Glue Dot in the center.  This is layered on a Basic Gray card stock mat.

I added a Yellow  Circle Fire Rhinestone brad to the center candle and a Red Circle Fire Rhinestone brad to the pine bough.

A Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon knot was added with a Mini Glue Dot and the whole panel was attached to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

To the inside, I stamped the sentiment from A Cardinal Christmas stamp set which reads:  "May all the blessings of the season fill your heart and home with joy."  It's a beautiful sentiment which is suitable for this time of year no matter what your religious preference is.

Holiday Window Treat Box

Hi Stampers,

Here's a cute little treat box I made to hand out some yummy Christmas cookies in.  I followed a great video tutorial by Julie Buhler found here.  I will just let you know what I used to construct the box.  The dimensions and process can be seen on the video.

For the basic box and lid I used Taken With Teal card stock.  I used my now retired Coluzzle to cut the ovals.  You could also use a circle or square punch or ruler and hobby blade to cut your opening.  A piece of Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Lounge collection was used to decorate.  I used acetate to cover the oval opening.  The white dots were added using a Signo Gel Pen.  One of the pieces of Holiday Lounge paper has assorted tree sizes.  I cut out the smallest one and added Silver Elastic Cord as trim using Mini Glue Dots to hold in place on the back side.  I added this to the box front using Stampin' Dimensionals. 

Before assembling the lid, each edge was punched with the Scallop Edge Punch.  Slits were made using the Slot Punch (you can use a hobby blade too).  Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon was wrapped vertically around the box and threaded through the slots in the lid and tied in a bow.

The finished box measures 4" tall.  It is approximately 2-3/4" square.  Four to six cookies fit very nicely in a small cello bag inside.

Let There Be Light

Hi Stampers!

Here's a card I made for Hanukkah.  It was CASED from this fabulous card by Lee Conrey.  The stamp, Let There Be Light, is sold as an individual stamp in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog for only $7.95.  All supplies used are © Stampin' Up!

The card base is Whisper White card stock.  I followed the great directions on Lee's blog for the crimped panel using Whisper White card stock.  It is really a very easy and ingenious way to create a dramatic effect using the Crimper.  This panel is attached to the card base using SNAIL adhesive.

The image is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using Silver Embossing Powder and Heat Tool.  This is layered onto a Basic Gray diamond.  I added a Square Ice Rhinestone Brad in the lighter blue color.  This element is attached using Stampin' Dimensionals.

I did not have an appropriate sentiment stamp for this card, so I printed one on Whisper White and adhered the panel to the inside using SNAIL adhesive.

I apologize for the poor photo quality.  It's a dark and dreary day here today.  This is really quite elegant looking in real life.
