Hi Stamping Friends,
Here's a card we made in this month's classes. It showcases the Chalkboard Technique. You won't believe how easy it is to make.
The card base is Naturals White card stock. It makes a nice backdrop for this technique, although I can't imagine any color that doesn't.
Let's start with the technique. Basic Black works best, but you could use any dark color. The first thing to do is to wipe your card stock with the Embossing Buddy. This will remove any static that might cause the embossing powder to stick where you don't want it. Stamp your image in Versamark. Sprinkle White Embossing powder over the image and tap the edge of your paper to help remove the excess. Use your Heat Tool to melt the powder. You will see it go from a dull finish to a shiny, white finish. That's what you're going for.
Using a Stamping Sponge or Dauber, add some Whisper White Craft Ink, to make it look like a black board. You can add as much or as little as you want. But remember, you can't take it off once it's on there, so start slowly.
I used a White Signo Gel Pen and ruler to draw the lines. This is optional, but I like the look.
Layer the Naturals White piece on the Basic Black card stock using SNAIL Adhesive. Position the chalkboard piece where you want, and stamp a greeting in Basic Black ink. Be sure to leave room for the ribbon, if you plan to use one.
I chose the Primrose Petal Stitched Satin Ribbon, but there are many colors that would look perfect. Wrap the piece of ribbon to the back of the layers and attach with SNAIL Adhesive. Slip the end of the ribbon (from the role) under this piece and tie your knot before cutting from the roll. This way you will get the exact length you need. Add Stampin' Dimensionals.
Be sure you stamp your greeting inside before you attach it to the card front, just in case you need to do it over. Add Dimensionals to your focal image and attach to the card.
Summer Afternoon is a hostess-only stamp set. Host a party with sales totaling $150 (or place an order yourself) and use your Hostess Dollars to choose a set, priced to make your Hostess Dollars go farther.
