Hi Stampers!
Here's a card I made for a sketch challenge on SUDSOL, a demonstrator's group. If you are a demonstrator and would like to find out what this business minded group is all about, click the link on the lower left for a free two-week trial.
Back to my card, the base is Soft Suede card stock...love, love, love this In Color! The stamp set I used is called Serene Snowflakes and can be found in the Holiday Mini Catalog
The next layer is Whisper White card stock. The sketch had three strips so I used a piece of Christmas Cocoa Specialty Paper, also from the Holiday Mini. The focal point is my favorite part. I used Whisper White card stock and Soft Suede Classic Ink. I used all the stamps in the Serene Snowflake set, stamping straight from ink pad to paper on some and stamping off on scrap for others, randomly over the panel. Then, I used a sponge dauber and Frost White Shimmer Paint (also from the mini) to dab the paint (ink) on the stamps and randomly stamp more images. In real life some of the snowflakes have a fantastic shimmer to them. If you click on the photo, you may be able to see some of the shimmer. This panel is layered on a piece of Soft Suede card stock and adhered to the designer paper layer using Stampin' Dimensionals.
The greeting is from the stamp set Holiday Best, a Level 1 hostess set. I colored the stamp using Real Red and Soft Suede Stampin' Write markers. *Don't forget, when coloring your stamp with markers, to "huff" on the stamp to re-moisturize the ink before stamping. I added a bit of 2-Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. This is cut out with the Wide Oval Punch. I wanted this layered on Soft Suede card stock, so I used the Big Shot and Ovals Bigz Die to cut out the layer. There are three ovals on this die and the smallest one makes a nice layer for the Wide Oval Punch. This is attached to the card using Mini Glue Dots.
As you may know, I love non-traditional colors for Christmas. Before I migrated from the Northeast, I would never have dreamed of using browns and teals for Christmas colors. I do still use traditional colors to decorate my home, but my cards have been non-traditional colors for the past five years. You can take the girl out of the Northeast, but you can't take the Northeast out of the girl...LOL.
So what do you think? Do you like the non-traditional colors? Check out my Dasher card here for another. You can really see what the Frost White Shimmer paint does to card stock on Dasher's card.
